The Group

The Meezan Group’s legacy dates back to a 100 years in SriLanka. Initially started as a company which exported Tea across the globe, the companyhas diversified into other businessesas the family expanded.

The group entered Africa in the 1970’s as a trading company in Kenya.It has since grown from strength to strength by gaining and acquiring expertise in various sectors.

Meezan Trading FZE

started food supplies to the UN mission in Somalia in 2010 and has since become a trusted local supply partner to the mission. We believe that our strength lies in our flexibility and our ability to supplying critical and emergency rations at very short notice.

Diamond SeaFoods

The seafood processing plant in Kenya processes a variety of fishes for local consumption and for the export market. Besides the local fishes caught in the vast Kenyan coastline, the company also imports fishes from various countries.

Norfolk Foods:

Themeat-processing factory in Sri Lanka is a British – Sri Lankan joint venture, which offers quality meat, poultry, fish and vegetable products at a modern, hygienic, HACCP approved plant using the latest technology.

Bergvlakte Farms:

South Africa’s climate varies because of the variation in latitude and height above sea level, together with the effect of ocean currents along the coast, which is suitable for growing a variety of fruits. The farms in the Western Cape in South Africa produce navels, Valencia, midnight orangesand apples that are exported to various countries in Africa and Europe.

Meezan Trading

in Kenya also is an importer and distributor of fresh fruits and dried beans from around the world to supermarkets, hotels and to the nearby countries.

The group has extended its active presence in the middle-east markets with a partnership with GPAC Trading in UAE and Bahrain. GPAC Trading distributes a variety of food products imported from the United States and Europe in the GCC markets.

Meezan has received various commendations from the client for itscritical support during emergency food requirements and shortages. Meezan’s local presence in Kenya has brought confidence to the clients and has established Meezan Group as a trusted partner for food supplies.

Mr. ShamilFarookis a shipping professional with a Masters Degree in Maritime from Leicester University in UK, Post Graduate Diploma In Shipping Management from London Institute of shipping & Transport, London and is a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, UK. With almost 15 years of shipping experience, he has worked with some of the biggest shipping lines at a manageriallevel.He is well connected with the major shipping lines, which has proved to be a majorasset to help us deliver the cargo with the shortest transit time and without any delays.

Shamil also has an excellent network with the food and beverage industry in South Africa. He also runs two farms, which produces citrus fruits and apples.

Mr. Srinath has about 6 years of experience in supplying food products to the prime vendors of the US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. He heads the procurement and sales operation and is experienced in international sales and retail distribution. He has worked with suppliers from the United States, China, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Cyprus, Bahrain, KSA, Mexico, Brazil and Uruguay.
